Russell L. Alpaugh, 87, of 530 C Menno Village, Chambersburg, and formerly of Shippensburg died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1917, in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Erastus and Alice (Dunbar) Alpaugh. Mr. Alpaugh was the widower of Hulda C. (Negley) Alpaugh, who died Oct. 18, 1998.

Mr. Alpaugh retired in 1975, from the Major Item Data Agency at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he was division chief. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific.

He was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God; a member of Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223; a member of AMVETS Post 224; a charter and life member of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168; and a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society.

Mr. Alpaugh is survived by two brothers, Richard L. Alpaugh of Chambersburg and Earl F. "Snook" Alpaugh of Shippensburg; three nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles F. Alpaugh and John E. Alpaugh.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Vernon Isner and the Rev. Ray Geigley officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
