Services were held on a Saturday at the Mission Chapel of Ivers and Alcorn for Charles (Charley) Brown 60 a 40-year resident of the Merced community. Died Tuesday in a local hospital. Burial will be in Winton Cemetery. A native of Missouri Mr. Brown had been the owner of the Hitching Rack bar and had been a member of BPOE No 1240. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Dorothy Brown Merced, a daughter Mrs. Charleen Kriswell (mother Margaret Marie Chandler) of Riverside, a son Randy Hoffman ( mother Cleo Hoffman) of Merced, two stepdaughters Mrs. Marie Pedrelli El Nido, and Mrs Cathy Blankinship Merced. Three sisters Mrs. Laura M Highfield and Mrs Mildred M Toews both of Merced and Mrs Jewel Krejci Atwater, two brothers Robert D Sanger and Lester Brown Fresno and seven grandchildren.
