James Hawkins married his second wife March 8, 1829, in Hall Co., Georgia, to Sarah KITTLE, daughter of Jeremiah KITTLE and Martha CHAMPION. Sarah was born January 13, 1805, in York District, South Carolina, and died April 10, 1884. James Hawkins died November 25, 1854, in Hall Co. They were said by the family to be buried in the Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery where many of their children and grandchildren were buried.
