VIOLET BROOKOVER
VIENNA~Violet Irene Brookover went home to be with her husband and the Lord, Saturday July 26, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Lewis "Doc" and Lizzie Ellen Varner Brookover.
Mrs. Brookover was a previous employee of the former Grossman Shoe Factory and retired from Brockway Glass Inc. (Demuth Glass Division), after 25 years of service.
She was a charter member of the Pioneer Antique Automobile Club, Marietta, and the Antique Automobile of America. She was an active member of the Summit Valley United Methodist Church since 1932. she held various positions in the church and led singing 40 years.
She is survived by one brother, Gale Brookover of Parkersburg and several nieces and nephews including Pet and Libby Sutton and Veranda "Sis" Sutton.She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Harold Brookover, whom she married in 1946; three sisters, Isa DeLancy, Gladys Riffle and Phyllis Brookover; and three brothers, Clyde, Howard and Lawrance Brookover.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Summit Valley United Methodist Church with the Revs. Edwin Sprout, Jeff Nolte and Wesley Vernnatter officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery Williamstown, with members of the Pioneer Antique Automobile Club serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
The family requests that memorials be made to Summit Valley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 877 Williams Highway, Parkersburg, WV. 26101.
