Sally McCorkle was the first born, known child of Alexander McCorkle and Mildred Welch (or "Malinda" according to her gravestone). Note: Alexander's 28 Dec 1793 Rockbridge Co., VA Marriage Bond, posted on MIldred's site, lists another first name, probably Milly). Sally McCorkle married James Willson (2 L's) on 31 Mar 1814, in Rockbridge Co., VA.

A History of Rockbridge County, Virginia, by Oren Frederic Morton, 1920, p 281 (Sally McCorkle married James Wilson, 1814) and p 286 (Sally McCorkle, born January 1, 1795, died 1842, the daughter of Alexander McCorkle and Mildred Welch).

Obit not located at the Library of Congress. Check the Rockbridge Public Library or the W&L Univerisity Special Collections LIbrary for an obit.

Note: Was "Malinda" on her gravestone, an error and supposed to be Mildred instead ? Or who was Malinda? Sally had a sister Malinda.
