George Peterson was the son of John and Andrea Peterson of Stockholm, WI, who were known as Johannes Pedersen Eishaug and Andrea Gundersdatter Saugbruken in their native Holla, Telemark, Norway. George married Gertrude Shaw, daughter of John W. Shaw, 26 August 1896 in Todd Co. (She died 6 Apr 1958 in Douglas Co.) George Peterson was a farmer, a teacher, and a superintendent of schools. A detailed obituary appeared in the _Long Prairie Leader_, Long Prairie, MN, Feb. 14, 1952.
