February 24, 1888: "This estimable lady, whose serious illness was denoted last year, died on Wednesday morning, at the age of 72 years, at her old home, now the residence of Mr. Jos. S. Paxton (her son-in-law), near Fancy Hill. Mrs. McCluer was a daughter of John Parry, and sister of Matthew H. Parry. She leaves one son J. Parry McCluer, and six daughters who married respectively (Rev.) H.R. Laird, Rev. A.F. Laird, Mr. Samuel Gilmore, Rev. J.H. Gilmore, Mr. Joseph S. Paxton and Prof. D.E. Laird. She was buried on Thursday at the Falling Spring Cemetery. Mrs. McCluer was raised in Lexington."
