Elvera Hildegard (Burklund) Meredith, 89, of Austin, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, with her family by her side. Born in Lyford, Texas to Oscar and Signe Burklund on December 24, 1928, she and twin brother, Elvin, were the first of 5 children. She shared her life with husband, "Bo", from October 1947 until his death, February 1979. She worked at her husband's side in their country store until 1972, when she became employed at Travis State School until she retired in 1993. Elvera enjoyed traveling the U.S. and taking cruises with her daughters. She loved yard work, helping friends with cleaning, and making Sunday family dinners. She affectionately became known to all as "Mamaw." Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Elvin, Edward and Leroy. She leaves to mourn her daughters Darlene, Shirley and Pat, her sister, Margie, grandchildren Stephen and Maggie, as well as numerous relatives. She will be missed by all. A visitation will be held Monday, September 17, at 1 pm at Cook Walden Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with services at 2 pm.
