An old resident of this county, a worthy man and highly respected, has gone to join the great majority, his death occurring Friday night of last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Buker. He had been in failing health for some time. Nine years ago, at Rochester, he had a cancer removed from his face. Last spring another operation for the same trouble was made at Mankato, and since then his eyesight and general health have been very poor. Henry Lewer was born April 29, 1828, in Hanover, Germany. He was married Dec. 10, 1852, and came to America with his family in 1866. He lived near LaCrosse, Wis., for several months and then came to Minnesota, making a temporary stop at Owatonna but settling in Vivian in 1867. Here he purchased a farm and added to it until he had 240 acres. In 1895 he disposed of this property to his son William, and he and his wife went to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. W. M. Buker of Woodville. Mrs. Lewer died three years ago. Six children survive their parents: Mrs. Hellnold of Oregon, Henry F. of Waseca, Fred of Otisco, William of Vivian, and Mrs. D. Frahman and Mrs. W. M. Buker of Woodville. Funeral services were held at the home Monday, Reverend Schlutz of the German Lutheran church of New Richland officiating.
