Charles "Max" Vetor, 87, of Anderson, died April 18, 2013, at Edgewater Woods, after a brief illness.

He was born July 5, 1925, in Summitville, IN to Charles and Mabel (Pyle) Vetor. He graduated from Summitville High School in 1943 where he played basketball and baseball.

He served in the US Navy during WW II in the South Pacific.

He owned and operated Vetor's Standard Service for 42 years and the Broadway Car Wash for 8 more years.

He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Maxine (Leonard) Vetor of Anderson, whom he married June 13, 1948, in Anderson; four children: Cheryl (Dennis) Hamilton of Tilden, IL; Mike (Barb) Vetor of Anderson; Dawn (Tim) Sachse of Anderson and Brad (Becky) Vetor of Indianapolis; four brothers: Donald "Rube" Vetor of Montgomery, IN; Ted Vetor of Middletown; Garland "Garbo" Vetor of Anderson and Phil (Carla) Vetor of Summitville; sister-in-law, Annabelle Vetor of Alexandria; ten grandchildren Arne (Deb) Halvorsen; Erik Halvorsen; Andy (Amanda) Vetor; Josh Vetor; Betsy Sachse-Baxter; Jill Sachse; Dr. Ryan (Betsy) Vetor; Craig Vetor and Erin Vetor; five great-grandchildren; Aiden Halvorsen; Kristian Halvorsen; J.J. Baxter; Samantha Vetor and William Vetor; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Vetor, Gerald Vetor and Walt Vetor; two sisters, Frances Levi and Charlotte Vetor.
