BOONSBORO - Mary Ann Beeler Welty, 85, of 243 N. Main St., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 17, 1918, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ellsworth II and Nina Marie Bender Beeler.
Her husband, Charles Franklin Welty, died Jan. 15, 1965.
She was a 1937 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She retired from Boonsboro Municipal Offices.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, Boonsboro, where she had been a member of the choir, altar guild and taught Sunday school.
She was past worthy matron of Olive Branch Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Keedysville, a member of Historical Society of Boonsboro and was on the board of Boonsboro Cemetery.
She is survived by
one daughter, Mary A. Risser of Watertown, Wis.;
one sister, Bettie J. Houser of Boonsboro;
two granddaughters, and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
one daughter, Nina M. Welty;
one sister, Sarah B. Shafer, and
two brothers, Joseph E. Beeler III and
James M. Beeler.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Revs. Douglas L. Griffin and Christy Risser will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
