Heinrich was born at Verden an der Aller, Hanover. He immigrated to Texas as a child with his parents and siblings aboard the "Johann Dethardt" in Fall 1844 and were considered among the founders of the town of New Braunfels. He married Auguste Fechner on 7-Aug-1856 in Guadalupe Co., Texas. He and his wife lived at Severy, Kansas from about 1870 to 1900, except for a short 2-year period in St. Louis in the 1880's. Afterwards, they lived in Yorktown, Texas to be near Auguste's relatives. They had no children.
