Thomas, the namesake of his grandfather, the Rev. Major Thomas C. Gallaher, died at the young age of 14. Originally buried at Pisgah Cemetery, his remains were moved to Diamond Grove Cemetery on August 9, 1873, along with the remains of his younger brother, James Allen Gallaher (1843-1862).

Thomas has two FAG entries, because he has markers in both cemeteries. He was originally buried in Pisgah Cemetery in Pisgah, IL, where his father was the minister. His remains were re-interred many years later in Diamond Grove Cemetery, in Jacksonville, IL, where a large family monument marks the burial place of his extended family.
