Lawrence G. Johnson, age 87, of Allison, Iowa, was born the son of George and Flossie (Behrends) Johnson on May 20, 1925, in Butler Center, near Allison, Iowa. Lawrence was baptized into the Christian faith and confirmed at a Lutheran Church in Allison. He received his education from a rural school near his home.

On October 29, 1947, Lawrence was united in marriage with Doris Frey at the Kesley Presbyterian Church in Kesley, Iowa. They made their home and farmed south of Allison. This union was blessed with three children, Ronald, Larry and Wendell. Lawrence farmed his entire life in Butler County.

Lawrence was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. His family brought a special joy to his life and he treasured being a part of their lives. He was a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who devoted his life to care for them.

Lawrence died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Carissa Capper; four brothers, Evert, John, George and Herbert; and one sister, Katie Eilderts.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris Johnson of Allison; three sons, Ronald (Nancy) Johnson of Clarksville, Larry (Sue) Johnson of Clarksville, and Wendell Johnson of Allison; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Harry (Hannah) Johnson of Allison, Stauffer (Bendina) Johnson of Parkersburg, Fred (Christina) Johnson of Clarksville, Alfred (Adeline) Johnson of Allison, and Vern Johnson of Hampton; two sisters, Mildred Johnson of Parkersburg and Frances Johnson of Shell Rock; one sister-in-law, Viola Johnson of Parkersburg and one brother-in-law, Donny (Alda) Frey of Allison.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Trinity Reformed Church with burial at the Allison Cemetery both in Allison, Iowa.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at 9:30 a.m. at the Church on Wednesday.
