Mrs. Josephine Benteman, Topeka, Kansas
passed away Wednesday, July 27, 1988 at a
Topeka hospital. She was forty-nine years
old and had cancer.
Mrs. Benteman worked in the cosmetics
Department of Katz Drug Company for
eight years and had worked at Macy's.
She later was a supervisor three years at
Richmond Gordman, all in Topeka, Kansas
She also worked for a K-Mart store in Florida.
She was born on October 13, 1938 in
Hutchinson, Kansas the daughter of
Chauncey Otto and Mary Jane (Craig)
Dowd. She grew up in Frankfort, Kansas
and was graduated from Frankfort High
School. She lived in Topeka several years
and later in Florida for twelve years. She
Returned to Topeka a year ago.
Survivors include a daughter Vicki
Jo Bennett, Eskridge, Kansas, her mother
Mary Jane Dowd, Frankfort, Kansas;
five sisters, Clara Jeffries, Blue Rapids,
Kansas, Betty Dowd, Frankfort, Kansas,
and Shirley Smith, Sharon Singleton,
and Kathy Dowd, all of Topeka, Kansas;
three brothers, Chauncey Dowd, Frankfort,
Kansas, John Dowd, Holton, Kansas,
And George Dowd, Sabetha, Kansas and
a granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, July 30, 1988 in Penwell-Gabel
Funeral Home, Topeka Kansas
Graveside services were at 1:00 p.m.
Saturday in Frankfort Cemetery.
