ASHTABULA — John Benedict, age 87, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home.
Born Aug. 14, 1925, in Ashtabula, he was the son of Fred and Palmina (Severino) Benedict. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII. On April 27, 1956, he married the former Vivian Jones in Saybrook, Ohio.
Mr. Benedict was retired as a detective from the Ashtabula City Police Dept. and was the owner of Benedicts Confectionery on Station Ave. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the VFW Post 943 in Ashtabula.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Benedict of Ashtabula; sons, John Benedict Jr., Ricky (Tina) Benedict and Barry (Janene) Benedict, all of Ashtabula; daughters, Cheryl Kent of Ashtabula, Michele Benedict of Cuyahoga Falls and Sandy Benedict-Pietch of Sedona, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jason Benedict, John Vincent Benedict, Frank Benedict, Alyvia Benedict, Stephanie Benedict, Barry John Benedict, Jamie Tackett, Kelly Allensworth, Erica Ettinger, Amanda Pietch, Cassandra Pietch and Katherine Pietch; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sam Benedict; and a sister, Antoinette Gagat.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 25th, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula, with Sr. Lauri Divoky, of Hospice of the Western Reserve, officiating. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens with Military Honors being conducted by the U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the Funeral Home.

KENT — Franklin "Frankie" Joseph Benedict, age 26, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
The son of Rick and Tina (Wright) Benedict, he was born on Jan. 2, 1989, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was a graduate of Edgewood High School. Frankie was currently attending Kent State University pursuing a degree in communications.
Frankie was employed by the Streetsboro Walmart as a supervisor on third shift. He was a dedicated and valuable employee and was respected by his fellow employees.
Frankie had many interests and hobbies; he has always had an interest in films. Not only watching them; but critiquing their style and composition. His family often told him he should have been a film critic. He and his friends attended many concerts when time allowed.
An avid reader, he liked to read biographical and most Sci-Fi novels. After graduation, he traveled to California and New York for one of his vacation experiences.
Frankie was a person of high ideals and morals. His personal beliefs were admired by his friends and family. His ability to talk to anyone and make them feel appreciated was one of his finest qualities. He will be remembered for his ability to make you feel special; being a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his parents, Rick and Tina Benedict; his sister, Alyvia (John) Camplese and their son, Johnnie, and half-brother, John Vincent, all of Ashtabula; his aunts, Cheryl Kent of Ashtabula, Sheri Trahan of Texas, Michele Benedict of Lakewood and Sandy Chizar of Arizona; his uncle, Barry (Jeanne) Benedict of Ashtabula; grandma, Donna Wright of Texas; cousins, Jaimie, Kelly and Erica, Stephanie and Barry John Benedict; and extended friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Vivian Benedict; and grandpa, Franklin Wright.
At Frankie's request, calling hours will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with a time of sharing to follow on Wednesday, July 15th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICE AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio.
