ASHTABULA — Vivian R. Benedict, age 79, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 16, 2013, in the Hospice Unit at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born Oct. 7, 1934, in McDowell, Ky., she was the daughter of Everett and Wilma (Hopkins) Jones.
Mrs. Benedict was retired from working at the Holiday Inn, Swallows Restaurant, and for 34 years as the owner manager of Benedicts Confectionary on Station Ave. She was loved and respected by all of the Station Ave. area for her help in the community.
She enjoyed cooking, flowers, interior decorating, casino trips and being with her family.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl Kent of Ashtabula, Ricky (Tina) Benedict of Ashtabula, Michele Benedict of Cuyahoga Falls, Sandy Pietch of Sedona, Ariz. and Barry (Janene) Benedict of Ashtabula; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erna Bish of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, John Benedict; and brothers, Edgele, Carlos and Donald Jones.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

ASHTABULA — Donald Lee Jones, Sr., 74, died, on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Carington Park.
The son of Everett and Wilma (Hopkins) Jones he was born in McDowell County Kentucky on December 24, 1937 and had moved to the Ashtabula are as a young man.
He married Myrna Christensen on July 7, 1956 and together they celebrated fifty-six years of marriage
Donald enjoyed all sports, but he particularly liked the game of baseball; he could talk to you for hours on the abilities of the players. He followed current events and politics, and was able to keep up his end of the conversation.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna; his children, Donald (Roseann) Jones, Jr., Lisa Roth, Timothy 9Barb) Jones all of Ashtabula, and Christopher Jones of Rocky River; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; sisters, Vivian (John) Benedict and Erna (Ken) Bish both of Ashtabula; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Edgel and Carlos Jones; and his parents.
At his request there will be no visitation or services observed.

Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula, is in charge of services.
