ORANGE, Texas -- Glenn Francis Harbert, 76, (brother of Mrs. Robert Frey of Jennings) died in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday, December 21. Harbert and his wife are residents of Vinton (Louisiana).
Harbert was born in Illinois and came to Louisiana in 1901 with his family who came to rice farm near Raymond. In 1909 the family moved to Jennings where they lived many years.
As a young man, he moved to Beaumont, Texas. He was a machinist and worker for Boykin Machine Shop for a number of years. Later he went to work for Mobile Oil Company where he worked until he retired in 1963.
Harbert's body will be brought back to Orange, Texas for burial. Plans for the funeral are pending the arrival of the family.
Glenn Harbert is survived by his wife, Bernice; his daughter, Fay Harbert Walston of Johannesburg, South Africa, and Dallas, Texas; one son, Glenn Harbert, Jr. of Vinton, Louisiana; two brothers, Maurice and Arthur Harbert, both of Port Arthur, Texas; two sisters, Alice Harbert Frey of Jennings, Louisiana, and Gladys Harbert Wallace of Sieper, Louisiana, six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral services for Glenn F. Harbert Sr., 76, of Vinton, Louisiana, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Forest Lawn Chapel in Beaumont. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
A native of Findlay, Illinois and a former Beaumont resident, Mr. died last Sunday in Johannesburg, Africa while visiting his daughter.
