Re birth location:

I have researched this family very thoroughly. I have never found a source for Elisabeth's place of birth as being in Stonington. At this point in my research, it is likely that Daniel, father of Elisabeth was in Dutchess County, NY or Worcester County, Mass by the time Elisabeth was born. But that is just an educated inference, and should not be used as a place of birth.

"Here lies Elisabeth Stone, consort of Benjamin Stone, Died January ?? 1829 in her 67th year"

Benjamin Stone, a native of Massachusetts, born November 6, 1761, who had married Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel Wilcox, followed the latter to West Franklin in 1799. He soon moved into LeRoy, locating permanently and became quite an extensive land owner. His children were Daniel, Horace, Benjamin, Betsy, Hannah and Susanna.

Horace married Cynthia Lindsley of LeRoy.

Benjamin, Jr. married Betsy, daughter of John Knapp.

Betsy married Sterling Holcomb of LeRoy.

Hannah married Gurdon Griswold of LeRoy.

Susanna married 1st John Smiley, 2nd Nehemiah Allen.

Suggested edit: "Modern people seem to get overly intrigued by the term "Consort" on tombstones, as if it has some underlying meaning of not really married or something, but in the period, it simply meant, as Littlestown and some others have said, that the husband was still living at the time of the wife's death. It was the opposite of "Relic," which meant the husband died first. Nothing exciting." - James White.
