This Daniel Wilcox (c. 1740-Dec 1815) is not from Stonington, New London, CT but rather hails from Sturbridge, Worcester, Massachusetts and was a pioneer settler in Franklin Township. He is the son of Hezekiah Wilcox (1706-?) and Hannah, his wife (last name unknown). Pioneer Daniel was also married to a woman named Hannah (last name unknown). I understand them to be the parents of the following seven:
1. Elisabeth Wilcox (1762-1829) m. Benjamin Stone (1761-1829) - the link to her grave is accurate
2. Hannah Wilcox (1767-?) m. David Adam Morse (1764-1828)
3. Sarah "Sally" Wilcox (1769-1831) m. Reuben Stone (1765-?)
4. "Preacher" Daniel Wilcox (1772-1849) m. Sarah Sheffield
5. Willoughby Wilcox (1773-?) Likely died young (after age 6)
6. Mahala Wilcox (1775-1860) m. Hezekiah Wilcox (1769-1809)
7. Samuel Wilcox (c. 1778-1833/4) m. Sarah Elizabeth Stone (c. 1783, CT-?)
Elizabeth (last name unknown), second wife, is also posted correctly. She and Daniel were the parents of:
1. Nathan Wilcox (1781-1846) m. Sarah "Sally" Latimer (?) (1787-1862)
2. Genevieve "Genny" Wilcox (1782-1830) m. Joseph Vonsick (1759-1850)
The Connecticut Daniel, Daniel Wilcox Jr. (c. 1740-1803) m. Hannah Wilbur of R.I. They were not Pennsylvanians. Their family, undergoing research and recovery (!), includes:
1. Stephen Wilcox (1762-1846) m. Sabra Palmer (1763-1849) Interred Wilcox Rd Cemetery, Busti, Chautauqua, NY
2. Eunice Wilcox (1763-1832) m. John Knapp (1757-1835) Died in Springfield, Bradford County
3. (Likely) Daniel Wilcox (1769-?) m. unknown Lived in Brookfield, Madison, NY (his son George in Wells, Bradford, PA)
Additional off-spring named in CT Daniel's will include Samuel, Ethen, Amos, Alfrad, Noah, Elisabeth, Francis, and Mary.
Bio says this Daniel Wilcox was born in Worcester County. What proof exists to support this assertion? It is more likely that he was born in the Stonington, CT area where his purported father (Hezekiah4 Wilcox b. abt 1706) lived at the time (based on several land sale records). Note that this is an inferred relationship, there is no proof that I have been able to find that clearly defines the father of this Daniel. YDNA testing strongly supports that a descendant of this Daniel [Daniel5] is a descendant of Daniel3 Wilcox (Stephen2, Edward1)... Edward aka Edward Wilcox of Portsmouth, R.I.
