Rose was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. She retired from Pepco Co. The Mercer's celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Oct 1966. They are buried next to Rose's cousin, Charles Hammond.

Rose was the daughter of John Vinton Knode & Cora W Marmaduke Knode Bowers. She was born in Sharpsburg, Md & moved to Washington DC where she met & married her husband. In her later years she lived in Florida. Her funeral was held at Minnich Funeral Home. She is survived by 4 half sisters & 5 half brothers.
