Polly was born at Oxford, New Haven Co., Connecticut. Her parents removed to the Town of Scipio, Cayuga Co., New York before 1820, when they were censused at Scipio. Polly Beardsley married Joseph Bishop, Sr. on 18 November 1819 at the Scipio. She was Joseph's second wife. Joseph had two living young children from his first marriage, Almira A. and Volney R. Bishop, at the time of his marriage to Polly. Presumably, she raised these children along with the seven children she had with Joseph: Caroline Martha, Amanda, Harriet Ann, Edwin, Elizabeth Jane, Mary, and Augustus Bishop. Polly and Joseph were censused in Scipio in 1820 and Lansing, Tompkins Co., New York in 1830. Polly died in 1834, but it is not known if she died in Lansing or Scipio.
