Mrs. Pearl Baker, 78, of 1900 East Raborn, a resident of Grand Island for 60 years, died Saturday night in a local hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Monday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker was born June 2, 1888, in Carmi, Ill., to Will and Lucy (Robison) Jenkins. She went with her parents to Leavenworth, Kan., as a child and grew up there. She was married to John Baker in 1906 at Omaha and the couple came that year to Grand Island. Mr. Baker died about 30 years ago.

Mrs. Baker is survived by three sons, Leonard and Thomas of Grand island and Willard of Okinawa; three daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Ford, Mrs. Minnie Williams and Mrs. June B. Carroll, all of Grand Island, and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son, a daughter and a sister.
