Velma Alberta Baker, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Baker, colored, residing in East Grand Island, passed away at the home of her parents at 5:30 A.M. Monday following a rather extended illness resulting from an infection of the tonsils. For the past six months or more she had been ailing and had been bedfast for the last four weeks. She was aged 15 years, 2 months and 1 day at the time of her death. Besides her bereaved parents, she is survived by three sisters and three brothers. Definite arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been made.
