Daughter of Thomas Evans Godbold & Sarah Bolton Nunnelee.

She married Oliver Milton Dampier June 1, 1884, in Uvalde, Texas.
Children:
1. Roly Hendricks - July 29, 1884
2. Fred Piper - November 29, 1887
3. Courtland Palmer - June 10, 1889
4. Infant - circa 1890
5. Frank Oliver - February 4, 1892
6. Leon Evans - July 19, 1894
7. Edna Viola - May 30, 1903
8. Milton Oliver - November 9, 1905

Pope's family had been very wealthy. Her father was from the "planter" class, large landowners and slave holders who lost wealth and position as a result of the civil war. One overheard and remembered difference of opinion between her and Oliver concerned their family backgrounds. Oliver was boasting of his family background that by his parents' time were small farmers. Pope responded with the retort "And who do you think my family were?"

She moved with her husband Oliver from Uvalde, to Los Angeles and finally to San Jose, California, by 1900.

She became a Latter Day Saint at some point and her genealogical workbooks from the 1930's were a starting point for discovering the family history. She also converted her daughter-in-law, Florence June Shatto Dampier, whose children started life in that church but ended up elsewhere.

The household in San Jose contained several generations of relations, including her mother-in-law, Martha Hodges Dampier and various grandchildren.
