Funeral services for Sam Campbell were conducted Wednesday morning, March 7, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. D. L. Druien and Dr. J. Chester Badgett officiating. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church. Mr. Campbell was born in Taylor County on July 5, 1892, the son of the late Sam and Kizzie Harding Campbell, and died Monday morning, March 5, at Rosary Hospital following a short illness. He united in marriage to Miss Alvia Crawley September 20, 1916. She preceded him in death in 1946. To this union one son and one daughter were born: Rev. Brookin Campbell of Birmingham, Alabama and Miss Leota Campbell of Pineville, West Virginia. Besides his children, he is survived by one brother and one sister, Mr. Lee Campbell of Campbellsville and Mrs. Henry Griffin of Lebanon. Three grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers were Carl Philpott, Cecil Philpott, Floyd Philpott, Silas Harris, George Hiestand and Henry Spratt.
