Funeral services for Mrs. Alvia Campbell, 54 years of age, were held Wednesday May 15 from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. Burial was in Brookside. Mrs. Campbell, the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Crawley, died at the Deaconness Hospital, Louisville, Monday, May 13. She had been in ill health for several months. She professed faith at the age of 12 and was a devoted member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was united in marriage in 1916 to Sam Campbell who survives her. She leaves two children: Rev. Brooklyn Campbell, county, and Miss Leota Campbell, of Louisville, and three brothers: C. C. Crawley, Dunkenville, Ala., H. K. Crawley, Memphis, and D. W. Crawley, county. The pallbearers were: Oscar Doolin, Carl Philpott, Truman Richerson, Vester Goff, Lloyd Mann, and Ira England. Flowerbearers were: Misses Bernice Griffin, Barbara Griffin, Elizabeth Crawley, Rebecca Crawley, Virginia Campbell, Verla Petit, Jane Crawley, Dorris Day, Eveline Doolin, Ruth Farris, Francis Harding, Lottie Philpott, Mrs. Kizzie Mahan, Mrs. Nell Blevins, and Mrs. Jennie Parson. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, May 23, 1946
