"Life-Long County Resident Passes"-- Albert A. Van Ness, son of the late John and Rachel Van Ness, was born August 25, 1875 near Anderson, Ia., and passed away at the Hamburg hospital May 14, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 19 days.

He was married February 20, 1895 to Eva Estelle Jackson, who survives him. Two years ago they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their immediate family. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Sylvia G. Carison of Creston; Paul and Miles of Sidney; Virgil of Clarinda; Mrs. Berniece L. Cheek of Thurman. He is survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Van Ness has always lived on a farm in Fremont county. He gave readily of his time to many organizations and was interested in the welfare of the community. He was known by his many friends for his quick wit and pleasing personality.

Besides his wife and children he is also survived by three sisters: Mrs.Lucretia Reeves of Blair, Neb.; Mrs. Lucy Racobs of Sidney; Mary Van Ness of Omaha; and a brother, Jim, of San Antonio. Tex.; also many nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Crawford Funeral home, conducted by Rev. Ira B. Allen. Interment was made at Sidney.
