Murrell W. (Jake) Swearengin, 48, of Martinez died Sept. 6 following a heart attack. He was a native of Kentucky and had lived in Martinez for the past 12 years. He moved there from Hanford where he had lived for several years. He is survived by his wife, Doris Swearengin of Martinez; four daughters, Donna, Linda and Nancy, all of Martinez, and Mrs. Evelyn Onthank of Iowa, and one son, Roy Swearengin of Salinas. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Howden of Martinez, Mrs. Wilda Harper of Oakland and Mrs. Lacie O'Neal of Hanford and by two brothers, Raymond Swearengin and Eugene Swearengin , both of Martinez.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. In Grangeville cemetery. The Reverend Bernard Davis of the First Christian Church of Hanford will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sullivan-Odell Funeral Home.
