Rutherford Hayes Swearengin, 76, a retired rancher, died in Hanford, after a lengthy illness. A native of Greenup County, Kentucky, he had lived in the Hanford area for 41 years and was a former member of the local Odd Fellows Lodge.
He was survived by his widow, Mary Effie (Walker) Swearengin, three sons, Raymond E., Murrell Walker, and Eugene P.; three daughters, Mrs. Wilda Jane Harper, Mrs. Edna Evelyn Howden and Mrs. Lacie M. O'Neal; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
