Services will be 10:30 Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Benton, Lafayette Co., WIth the Rev. Cy Weisensel and the Rev. Charles Schluter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Casey Funeral HOme, Benton, where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Swift was a mechanic at Kearns Motors in Benton, for 25 years and at the Ford garage in Shullsburg, for 10 years.
He was born on March 16, 1915, in Benton, son of James Louis and Margaret (McCarthy) Swift. He married Juanita Burke on May 14, 1946, at St. Mathew's Church, Shullsburg.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for 55 years and an officer of the Southwester District of Forresters for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita, of Platteville; a daughter, Donna Perkins, of Platteville; three sons, Ronald (Janet) Swift, of Menominee, Ill., Phil (Sandy) Swift, of Platteville, and Steve Swift, of Belmont; 10 grandchildren and three sisters, Lynette Bussan and Sally Folsom, both of Dubuque, and Anna (John) Cox, of Galena, Jo Daviess Co., ILl.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas Ambrose, in infancy, and John and James; and two sisters, Cecelia Hickman and Margaret Banfield.
In lieu of flowers, a Joseph F. "Jerry" Swift Memorial Fund has been established.
