Born on January 5, 1916, at Ansted, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hollie Claytor and Alice Ferguson Claytor.
Mrs. Massie was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. She had made her home at Daniels for the past 20 years, having lived most of her life at Shady Spring.
Mrs. Massie was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Oral "Fuzzie" Massie, by a brother Alvin Claytor, and by sisters Irene Carte, Ruth Gray, and Mary Coleman.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her son, Jack Massie of Daniels, with whom they shared their home; two sisters, Virginia "Tip" Claytor of Beaver, and Catherine "Cab" Claytor of Daniels; a grandson, Robert Massie and his fiancée Jodie Pollock of Shady Spring, and two great-grandchildren, Raysha Massie and Lexie Powell, both of Shady Spring.
Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Helen Claytor Massie on Monday, January 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel, with the Rev. Don Kelly officiating. Burial with follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, W.Va.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
