GREENWOOD - Graveside services for Dr. Mary Frances "M.F." Lide, 77, will be held at 3 p.m. today, June 6, 1999, in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, with the Rev. Daniel Inabinet officiating. Memorials may be made to Mary Frances Lide Scholarship Fund, c/o Lander University, Greenwood 29646, or to the Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital for Cancer Treatment and Research, 5 Richland Medical Park, Columbia 29203. Smith-Collins Funeral Home is in charge.
Dr. Lide died Friday, June 4, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia after an illness. Born in Marion County, Jan. 1, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Thaddeus Roland "T.R." Lide Sr. and Bessie Allen Lide. She retired as a Business Professor at Lander University, Greenwood. She taught there for 44 years. She just recently received Volunteer of the Year Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III. She was an active member of the Pilot Club in Greenwood, active with the Soup Kitchen and her passion was Lander University and all areas there that she was involved in, even after her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
Surviving are her sister, Dr. Pauline D. Lide of Anderson; brother, T. Roland Lide of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Dr. David Allen Lide.
