COLUMBUS — Maryln Frances Schumacher, 78, of Columbus, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in Columbus.
Services will be at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey with Fr. John Andrews officiating. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Lindsay.
She was born Dec. 7, 1934, on the family farm in Cornlea. She was the last child of Mathew and Nellie (Bender) Schumacher.
She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Cornlea, Humphrey High School and Wayne State College. She taught in a variety of schools, both public and parochial, in both Madison and Platte counties. She retired from Humphrey Public Schools. Marlyn loved to read, enjoyed watching television comedies and spending time with her friends and family. She was an active member of the choirs and Sacred Heart Parish, Lindsay Holy Family and Humphrey St. Francis churches. Marlyn had a passion for caring for others and her volunteer work. Marlyn enjoyed writing scripts for special celebrations, such as the anniversaries of married couples, as well as priests religious retirements, and the celebration of Lindsay's 100 Centennial.
Marlyn is survived brother, Dale (Nell) Schumacher of Humphrey; sister, Arlene Schumacher of Columbus; sister, Joan "Bunny" Noonan of Columbus; sister-in-law, Ruth Schumacher of Lindsay; sister-in-law, Marcy Schumacher of Lindsay; sister-in-law, Rita Schumacher of Columbus.
Marlyn was preceded in death by parents, Mathew and Nellie Schumacher; brother and sister-in-law, Sylvester and Alice Schumacher; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Alvina Schumacher; brothers, Gerald Schumacher, Alvin Schumacher and Maynard Schumacher; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Clem Gronenthal; and brother-in-law, Mark Noonan.
