Marjorie was the daughter of Homer and Gertrude (Humphries) Coberly. In 1944, she married James Stanley Thompson in Gatesville, TX. He preceded her in death in 1984. Marjorie was a Chillicothe High School graduate and attended her 50th class reunion in Chillicothe in 1992. She worked at International Harvester, Farmall Works, and Rock Island Millworks. She was a member of Rock Island Women of the Moose and enjoyed crocheting. Survivors include daughter Georgia, son David, sister Lestie, brother Glen, five grandchildren.
