Marshall died in Hagerstown only because he'd been admitted there the day before he died. He had spent his life in Frederick County and he and Marie had lived in the same house in Sabillasville since 1950. In his younger life, he'd worked as a farmer and a carpenter. Like most of the men in the Thurmont area, he worked on the construction of Camp Ritchie and Shangri-La (the original name of Camp David). He belonged to the Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. I've always believed the fire company was his reaction to his father being trapped in his burning home. He and his brothers also had trucks and hauled produce to market. He later worked for the Highfield Water Co. He belonged to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Sabillasville.
