DOROTHY VIOLA (MOSER) COYLE, 92, of Cascade, MD, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, PA.
Born September 25, 1925 at White Hall near Smithsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Marshall I. and E. Marie (Bowers) Moser. She lived her early life in Foxville, MD.
Mrs. Coyle was a graduate of Thurmont High School with the class of 1943.
She and her husband, the late G. Thomas Coyle, Sr., were united in marriage on December 29, 1946 in Thurmont, MD, and were married 44 years before he passed away on September 19, 1990.
Mrs. Coyle was a homemaker all her married life.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Sabillasville, MD where she at onetime taught Sunday School, was a member of the Council, and was active in a lot of church activities.
In earlier years she was a member of the Women's Willing Workers of the church, having served in all the offices.
She was also a member of the Altar Guild for a number of years.
Mrs. Coyle spent a lot of time caring for the elderly and shut-ins; also visiting them in nursing homes in the tri-state area. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson. She enjoyed gardening, reading and scrap-booking.
Mrs. Coyle was a Life Member of the Blue Ridge Mtn. Fire Co. No 1 Ladies Auxiliary, having served in all offices and on the Board of Directors. She worked with the auxiliary in planning and serving public suppers; and also with the well-known Blue Ridge Fire Co. Carnival.
She served as a Girl Scout leader for several years. She was a member of the National A.A.R.P.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, G. Thomas Coyle, Jr; and a brother Carl L. Moser.
She is survived by a daughter Barbara Buckler and husband Ken, Smithsburg, MD; one grandson, Kenny and wife Melissa, Boonsboro, MD. also several cousins and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Mike Simane officiating. Burial will follow at Germantown Bethel Church of God, Cascade, MD.
The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
