Union Dies
A. John Crogan of 11 Grotto
Ct., who served as treasurer of
the Troy local of Brotherhood
of Locomotive Engineers for 20
years, died yesterday morning at
Leonard Hospital after an illness
of several weeks.
A native of Whitehall, Mr.
Crogan moved to Watervliet at the
age of 14. He was employed at the
Delaware & Hudson Railroad for 51
years and was a locomotive engineer
at the time of his death.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Watervliet, Evening Star Lodge,
F&AM, Watervliet Masonic Club and of the
Square and Compass Club of the D&H Railroad.
Mr. Crogan is survived by his wife, the former
Eva Ward; three daughters, Mrs. George Howes
of Schaghticoke, Mrs. Lacorener J. Yonchok and
Mrs. John G. Kewley, both of Troy; five sons,
John J. Crogan, Walter D. Crogan and Harold Dustin, all of Watervliet, Andrew C. Crogan of
Troy, and Donald H. Dustin of Poestenkill;
one sister, Mrs. Lillian Smith of Troy; two
brothers, Thomas Crogan and William H. Crogan,
both of Troy, and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday
from the residence where Rev. Walter I. Eaton,
pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will
officiate. Interment will be in Niskayuna
Reformed Church Cemetery, Niskayuna.
