She was the 1st born of 10 children to Mathew and Elizabeth Wuori. Her parents immigrated from Finland. She took the 1st grade for 3 years to learn English. When she was 18 she left home and moved to Chicago and sent all her money home. Her and her sister Alice went to Washington State and worked at the Army Hospital at Fort Lewis. That is where she met Norman A. Thompson and that is where they were married. (Pierce County) August 19th, 1943. They had 6 children.
