Alice O. Walimaki, longtime Maple, Wis. resident, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on May 26, 1918, in Maple, Wis. to Matthew and Elizabeth (Hillberg) Wuori.

Alice married Arvo Walimaki on June 18, 1944, in Lawton, Okla. and they celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2003.

She was a lifelong member of the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Alice loved gardening, canning, making rugs and soap. She worked in various Army Hospitals on the West Coast during World War II, including Tacoma, Wash., Palo Alto and Los Angeles, Calif.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Clarene Jakubek, Maple, Wis. and Bonnie (Douglas) Devorak, Shakopee, Minn.; one son, Clifford Walimaki, Maple, Wis.; three grandsons, Jim Walimaki, Nick and Kevin Gille; two granddaughters, Renee Erickson and Natalie Cass; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Molly Erickson and one great-grandson, Gabriel Cass.

She is preceded in death by husband Arvo in 2003, infant daughter Nancy in 1947, her parents, sisters Betty Larson, Mae Luostari and Ellen Hill, brothers Oiva, Sam, Ernest, Raymond, Paul and John Wuori.

Burial will be in the Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church in Maple, Wis.
