Mary Liza was the daughter of Andrew Bryant and Bessie Bryant. She was educated in the Houston County School System. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Hayneville C.M.E. Church in Hayneville, Georgia where she served until September 1989 when her health failed.
She married Elder James Allen in August 1937 and remained together more than 52 years until her death.

3 Sons: John Lee Allen, Samuel Allen and Hendrick Allen.

4 Aunts: Annie M. Porter, Beulah Bryant, Snowey White and Lorraine A. Scott.
