GALENA, Kan. — Jim D. Porter, age 73, Galena, Kan., passed away on Sunday Dec. 9, 2012, at his home, following a long illness.
Jim was born on Mar. 24, 1939, in Galena, the son of the late Walter and Faye (Ingel) Porter.
He has been a lifetime resident.
He served his country in the United States Army.
He worked as a salesman for Herman Lumber, Meeks Lumber, and Breckels.
He is survived by one son, Michael Scott Porter and wife, Deb, Galena; one daughter, Shanna Cramer, Carl Junction, Mo.; one brother, David Porter and wife, Kathy, Galena; two sisters, Patricia Neal and husband, Hobert, Quapaw, Okla. and Alice Girton and husband, Richard, Galena; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
Note: He was first married to Emma Jean 'Jeanie' McDonald. They divorced. She remarried Gene Harsch.
Jim was preceded by his twin brother Jerry E. Porter.
