Donelda (Nelda) Sneigowski Goodrich (80) surrounded by her family, joined her husband and other family and friends in heaven on Feb. 21, 2013.
Nelda was born in Bradley, on April 4, 1932, to Margaret (nee Engelke) and Joseph Sneigowski. She and her siblings grew up in the Kankakee area where she graduated from Kankakee High School. Nelda married James(Jimmie) Goodrich on April 17, 1955. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 2003.
Nelda and Jim were the owners of Goodrich Auto for over forty years. She was also a long time customer service representative in the insurance field, retiring from Mest, Wiser, Warmbir Insurance. Nelda was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest delight. They have treasured memories of spending "sick" days with Grandma watching The Price is
Right. Nelda enjoyed NASCAR and was a devoted Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. She was admired by her family for being "Clever and Witty" and will be remembered by all for her great sense of humor. Nelda loved animals and supported New Beginnings Cat Shelter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings Cat Shelter.
Nelda is survived by her three children: James (Suanne), Barbara and Carol (Jeffrey Brooks); five grandchildren: Nicole (Daniel Freyman) and Michael Goodrich (Felicia Daverin), Renee (Michael Hensley) & Jesse Brooks (Diane Austin), Joscelyn Chapman (Kevin) & five great grandchildren: Mikey, Justen, Lily, Katelyn and Braiden; many nieces and nephews and their families; and best friend since childhood, Audrey Weil.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and two sisters, Donald Mitchell, Jimmy and Kenneth Sneigowski, Lillian Hopper and Lorraine Redman.
