James c. Goodrich Sr., longtime business owner James "Jimmie" Goodrich Sr., 77, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 11, 2003) at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded by Hertz-Thoma Cre­matory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. Mr. Goodrich was the owner and operator of Jimmie Goodrich Starter Rebuilders in Kankakee for over 45 years. He was born in Kankakee on Jan. 27, 1926, the son of Claude A. and Marie Smith Goodrich.

He is survived by his wife, Donelda "Nelda'" Sniegowski Goodrich, whom he married April 17, 1955, in Kankakee. Also surviv­ing are one son and daughter-in-­law, Jim Jr. and Suanne Goodrich of Bradley; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara K. Goodrich of Bourbonnais, Carol A. and Jeffrey Brooks of Kanka­kee, Susan Marie and Howard Trombley of Warren, Mich.; and five grandchildren; Nicole and Michael Goodrich of Bradley, Renee and Jesse Brooks of Kankakee, Joscelyn Brooks of Richmond, Va. He is also survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty and Lawrence Delgado of Homosassa, Fla., Janet Fill­inger of Bourbonnais; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Juanita Goodrich of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Goodrich enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May of 1944, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 85 in Kankakee.
