JOSEPH SMITH MORRISON JR.

Funeral services for Joseph S Morrison 78, of Coos Bay will be held at the Coos Bay Chapel. Gordon Scott will be the speaker with committal services at noon Monday at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

He was born Jan 20, 1918 in Portland, Oregon to Joseph Smith Morrison Sr. and Mary Adeline Taylor-Morrison and died April 30, 1996 peacefully at his home in Coos Bay, Oregon of natural causes.

Mr. Morrison lived at Coos Bay since he was 1 year old.

He was a US Marine Corp Veteran of WWII, Joe made rank of CPL in the US Marine Corps in the Engineers Division Heavy Equipment Operator serving in Okinawa & Iwo Jima.

He married Betty Reiten in 1950 at Reno, Nevada.

He retired in 1980 from Cape Arago Lumber Company. He was avid fisherman and his favorite hobby was woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Betty Morrison of Coos Bay, 2 Son's Joseph Smith Morrison III-Littrell of Sequim, Washington and Steven Jay Morrison-Littrell of Turner, Oregon and a Step Daughter Sandra J Weigart of Aloha, Oregon. A brother Fred Morrison, of Coquille, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary "Addie" Morrison, Father, Joseph Smith Morrison Sr. Sister's Alice E Armacost, Bertha M Gallino, Brothers Russell W Morrison of Coos Bay, and Philip A Morrison of Grants Pass. Coos Bay Chapel are in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph Smith Morrison Jr had 2 sons Joseph Smith Morrison III and Steven Jay Morrison with his first wife Doretta Joyce Butcher, in about 1948 they divorce and her 2nd husband Marion Orin Littrell adopted the boys. But the boys still remained close to their Father Joe.

Joe was born the eldest child and son of Joseph Smith and -Mary "Addie" Adeline Taylor-Morrison. Joe Jr. lived to be 78 years old and died peacefully in his sleep of heart failure.

Joe loved to fish and was often seen on the Coos County Oregon rivers Salmon fishing. He made clocks and tables out of slabs of wood and his wife Betty painted wildlife on them. Joe loved camping and being in the outdoors. Joe worked for Cape Arago Lumber Company as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1980.
