Mrs. Laura Hansen Bentsen was born on
May 11, 1885 at Bornholm, Denmark and
departed this life on November 3, 1944 at
her home in Frankfort, Kansas.

She came to the United States during the
summer of 1911 and was married to James
N. Bentsen on September 3, 1912 at Marys-
ville, Kansas.

Besides her husband, James; she is survived
by six children, Mrs. Esther Cunningham,
Yakima, Washington, Olaf Bentsen, Seneca
Kansas, Mrs. Ellen Sparks, Irving, Kansas,
Mrs. Mary Vaught, Irving, Kansas, Pvt
Lawrence Bentsen, Camp Barkley, Texas,
Raymond Bentsen, S 2/c, stationed on a
plane carrier somewhere in the Pacific,
another son Fred Bentsen S 2/c was on the
submarine “Sculpin” which was reported
missing last January. Also four step-child-
ren, Emery Bentsen, Knoxville, Iowa,
Vernice Bentsen, Frankfort, Kansas, Mrs.
Ethel Leopold, Blue Rapids, Kansas, and
Mrs. Alice Leupold, Wathena, Kansas;
nineteen grandchildren and a number of
other relatives and friends.

The family moved from a farm near Blaine
Kansas to Frankfort about three years ago.
Mrs. Bentsen’s health had been failing for
several years, but she was confined to her
bed for only a few weeks. Death was caused
by a complication of the diseases.

Funeral services were held at the Padden
Funeral Chapel on Monday, November
6, 1944 with Reverend R.G. Anderson
officiating.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
