Hardwig Dietrich, 80, of Durant, died Saturday evening, April 23, 1927, at his home in Durant. His death came suddenly and was a shock to both his family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, at the Durant chapel with Rev. S. A. Gilbert officiating the services. Burial was in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Hardwig Dietrich was born May 19, 1846, in Jevensteadt, Holstein, Germany. He married Selma Ansorge on November 26, 1870. The family came to America and settled on a farm in Cedar County, until he retired and moved to Durant.
Surviving are his wife, Selma, five sons, Henry and Hardwig Dietrich, both of Durant, Ernest Dietrich of Wheatland, and Claus and John Dietrich, both of Davenport; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
