Danny W. Ervine, 68, of Connersville died Thursday morning, November 8, 2012 at his residence.

A Connersville native, he was born August 28, 1944 to Vernon W. and Avylen Dean Moore Ervine and attended Connersville area schools. Danny was a Connersville firefighter for 33 years and retired July 1, 1999. He was a local D.J. playing oldies, had been employed in maintenance department at Fayette Regional Health System and drove a truck for Lunsford Trucking. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing euchre and basketball and once held a record for most points scored in a game.

Danny is survived by his children and their spouses: Laurie Hamilton and Don of Connersville; Pamela Kay Wilson and Mark of New Palestine; Kimberly Schroeder and Robert; Danny W. Ervine II, all of Connersville; his siblings and their spouses:: Buddy Ervine and Hila of McKee, KY, Linda Ervine, Kendall "Punky" Ervine, Aletia Sweet and Bill, Donnie Ervine, all of Rushville; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Brittany Vest and Nathan of Connersville, Lindsey Crabtree and Jeremy of Liberty, Ashley Seigel and Ben of Westfield, Alisha Ervine of Fortville; Travis Ervine and Jessica of Okinawa, Japan; Carlee Schroeder of Cambridge City, Avylin Jean "AJ' Ervine and Macie Danielle Ervine, both of Shelbyville; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Manefee and a brother, Jerry Ervine.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville,with Reverend Gene Spicer, officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with honors by the Connersville Firefighters. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 pm where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association or Disabled American Veterans.
