The son of Thomas Link and Cora Kenney, Clement was baptized "Marion Clement Link." He was educated in Port Arthur, Texas.

Clement moved to Hartford, Madison County, Illinois before World War II. He worked at the International Shoe factory there for a number of years.

He married Agnes Victoria Duggan on 24 Oct 1942 in Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois. They were the parents of 1 child and lived in Hartford.

Clement eventually accepted a position with the Owens-Illinois Glass Works in Madison County.

Agnes worked at the Carlinville Glove factory for 5 years prior to her marriage. She later was employed in the cafeteria of Woodrow Wilson Grade School in Hartford.

At the time of his death, Clarence was 84 years, 1 month and 11 days old.

He was buried next to his wife, Agnes, who passed away in 1981.
