from obit. Gary--of diptheria, Dec 31st Hattie E. Gary (Newcomb) aged 19years 2 months and 21 days.
Also, January 1st of diptheria, Nellie Eva, aged 13 years, 9 months and 26 days, daughters of Loved and Mary Gary.
The ravages of this tearful malady is simply appalling in this once happy and most prosperous family. The three Children who have so suddenly fallen its victimes were in other respects hearty and vigorous, and gave promise of long and useful lives. Seldon in the annals of history is one called to pass through such heart rending scenes.
The girls were both conscious to the very last and knew that death was near.
Hattie was calm and resigned and wished to go. She called for songs and the attending physician sang with her; their voices had not died away before she fell asleep. She was a member of the Congregational church and died in full and victerious faith.
Nellie called for songs to cheer her dying hours, and smiled sweetly between the paroxyams of death which a an early hour Sabbath morning gave her spitit release.
The funeral of both took place Monday at 10 o'clock at the house and were conducted by Rev. W. A. Waterman. Minnie better at writing and it is hoped that she may be spared to her broken hearted parents. The neighbors and friends were very kind and helpful during all these sad events, and sympathy from the heart's deepest fountains flows from a large circle of friends.
